Residential Aged Care Managers and staff working in residential or community care setting.
If you suspect that your care environment is not fully supporting your residents’ health and wellbeing, you could well be right. Our immediate environment has a huge impact on how we feel and consequently behave – this is even more important for people living with dementia who are acutely sensitive to their environment. We have a responsibility to ensure that our care environments don’t contribute to their excess disability, poor health or wellbeing. These talks unpack the relationship between design and dementia, and explores the top contributing environmental factors that result in referrals to Dementia Support Australia.
At the end of this workshop participants will be able to:
· Understand how and why human behaviour is influenced by environmental design.
· List the top three environmental contributing factors for referral to DSA and expand on why they occur
· Be able to identify a behaviour in your own care context which could be improved by a design intervention.
