A systems thinker, visionary, and entrepreneurial, she is quick to assimilate information, generate ideas and connect people to create opportunities. She is at her best when working in a progressive environment with plenty of scope that requires new thinking. She worked as Business Development Manager at Diabetes WA, a member based organisation supporting people living with, affected by and at risk of diabetes. She was aProject Officer at Limestone Coast Area Consultative Committee, City of Wanneroo, and Nudge NGO (formerly ROADS Foundation) - a charity that focuses on getting young people into jobs and training opportunities in various industries throughout WA, Community and Youth Services Manager at UnitingCare West - a leading provider of community services -and Operations Manager at headspace Joondalup that supports young people who need help with mental health. She founded, co-owned and operated Veejays Kitchen and Bathroom Renovations in 1989 which still operates to this day.
For the past four years she worked at Palliative Care WA leading business development which resulted in a tenfold increase in membership and the development of strategic partnerships generating multiple new projects. Now a fulltime carer for her partner who is living with younger onset dementia, Vicki is the Project Lead for Living Better, Caring Together, a project she initiated back in 2018. This project seeks to develop a community of 'networked' care and an affordable living option that supports people living with dementia (or other life-limiting conditions or disability) and their primary carer to stay together, living as well as possible for as long as possible. It combines the principles of co-housing with deliberative design that blends safety and integration with the wider community to generate a 'pocket neighbourhood'. With a passion to drive change to ensure that we all get the best ending in life possible, Vicki is a strong proponent of advance care planning and compassionate communities.
