Taking care of a family member with Alzheimer’s disease is a hard and long journey. In this presentation, we will see that situations are heterogeneous. There are moments of breaks, steps to take, discontinuities and unfortunately an end to this journey. Here, we will see that depending on the situation (children or spouses, the caregiver's gender), the individual's enrolment in a system of help within the community, and the family support: the help and its intensity, can be very different. We will also see that this caregiving situation is above all a situation of interdependence between different actors: Professionals, the family and the person with Alzheimer's. The presentation summarises the conclusion of my thesis about the career of family caregivers in the home care’s situation of a sick elderly person. I will present the results of my research, the various stages of the career of caregiver, the points of rupture, the beginning of the career and also its end. I will explain the heterogeneity of the profiles of caregivers. We will see in the article that it is a fight not only for elderly people but for the family around them.
