Lara is currently involved in the design and delivery of numerous residential aged care and independent living unit developments in NSW. Some of these are projects that support new models of care and combine a co-generational mix of uses that considers the social and environmental needs of the residents and how they also relate to the wider community.
Lara actively participates in discussion forums and research surrounding the future of aged care and seniors housing design and has presented at various conferences throughout Australia and recently in Japan. She has provided published articles for the Australian Aged Care Agenda and is a member of the UDIA Seniors Development Committee. Lara has first hand experience in the field where prior to graduating as an architect, she was a registered nurse and worked in geriatric medicine.
As an Architect, Lara has worked on various commercial and health care projects. She established and ran her own practice in Sydney from 2003 to 2010 where she concentrated on delivering a variety of residential projects. Her experimental work with competitions has received wide plaudits in the world architectural press.
Lara is an accredited Greenstar professional and deals with the present challenges of commercial practice, seeking opportunities for innovation and creativity to achieve sustainable design in the built environment.
